Stagger Back Brass Band

Stagger Back Brass Band is a Brooklyn-based ensemble led by Mr. Patty Farrell. We play mostly original music, with a few choice covers thrown in for good measure, all of it slightly unhinged, some of it quite beautiful, and a bit of it just odd. We're inspired by the attitude of the clowns in tiny circuses, little yappy dogs, and large families when they get together for the first time in a while. We like to play too fast, too loud, too much and think all that sounds pretty good. Our members come from all the best brass bands in New York City (check out the bios page for more of that) and as such know the importance of a live show, a kickin' street beat and something that approaches in-tune playing, which we do strive to achieve whenever possible!

And we have a new album! Released in 2009, the self-titled full-length debut Stagger Back Brass Band CD is on PattySounds Records. You can find a copy for yourself here!.

This CD is beautiful. It makes you glad to be alive. It makes you feel crazy in your brain-hole in the best possible way, and if played loud enough may actually bring you closer to nirvana. It will beat both the winter blues and the summer doldrums. There are 11 original brass forays penned by the aforementioned Mr. Farrell and one tune adapted from George Gershwin, for a total of 12 reasons to smile, dance and feel fine.
